Toyota North America Selected Projects
Toyota North America projects I can vaguely talk about
Mobility Services Vertical Creation
Was part of a small internal working team tasked to explore future scenarios facing the company and recommend new business directions. The outcome of the project was the creation of a new mobility services vertical within the core business that experiments with new mobility solutions through disruptive digital technology and partnerships.
Vehicle Change Ideation Process
Led the development of a standardized vehicle change ideation process for major, minor, and full model changes for Toyota and Lexus' North American vehicle lineup. Process aims to utilize design thinking/ human-centered design methodologies and leverage internal subject matter experts to create ideas based on future trends, proprietary consumer research, and internal technological and business plans and constraints. Used the process to develop ideas for in-vehicle apps, personalization software items, and user interface changes for a next generation vehicle.
Future Life Concept Vehicle
Created a custom workshop for the Advanced Product Strategy team to integrate long-range trends with future customer needs to ideate and prioritize multiple future vehicle concepts. Worked with the team to do secondary research, identify and work with focus group subjects, and develop the pitch decks for the future concept vehicle currently under development.
New Long-Range Research Direction
Worked with multiple departments including Consumer Insights, Regulatory, Advanced Product Strategy, and Advanced Technology Research to determine long-range future research directions for Toyota beyond automotive. Designed and led a workshop to analyze Toyota's current business, track technological research times, and generate research concepts.
Business Strategy Goal Creation
Designed a workshop for my Business Insights team to direct team priorities and goals, generate an internal communications plan including framing and branding, and determine a two-year work strategy. Both personal and job goals were taken into account to help team members address work issues and increase fulfillment in their lives and positions.
SAE World Congress Hydrogen Society
Worked with members of the Toyota Technical Center (TEMA TTC) to construct a human-centered design based workshop for both undergraduate and graduate students from 7 universities in the Detroit area to generate ideas to use hydrogen fuel technology to address social issues. Trained 65 Toyota TEMA TTC, Corporate Strategy, and Financial Services staff to facilitate the workshops in which 185 students participated. Workshop was attended by VPs from Toyota TEMA TTC and Social Innovation departments as well as the chairman of the board, Takeshi Uchiyamada.
